WHAT IS "ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE"?

The Department of English Language and Literature at ASBU offers students a rich undergraduate programme which synthesises British Literature, World Literature, Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies in the light of recent academic studies and scholarly research by going beyond classical readings of texts.

Our department gives great importance to interdisciplinary studies as a principle of the founding vision of our university; hence, such courses as “World History” and “Critical Thinking” are present in our undergraduate curriculum. As a concomitant of the research mission of our university, the “Research Methods” course in the BA curriculum has a great significance and students are encouraged to conduct research throughout their undergraduate study. Furthermore, in accordance with the multilingual tendency of our institution, our department requires the study of an additional foreign language, for which students can choose from among a wide range of languages during their undergraduate period. The Department of English Language and Literature at ASBU aims at having graduates prepared for the business world by means of providing them with additional curricular opportunities in addition to enhancing their intellectual and academic capacities and skills.
